About I Had a Dream
I had a dream was inspired by projects like Post Secret and Penance (and before that, Not Proud) that are built around the concept of "anonymous confessions". While no one can argue that the anonymity of repenting one's sins has produced some incredibly fascinating - and deeply personal - glimpses into the bowels of human nature, a lot of it is downright disturbing and creeps us right out.
Maybe it's because we're innocent, naive Canadians but we thought we could transplant the model of posting anonymously to something a little more fun and playful: dreams. Ok, we're not that gullible - we know people have nightmares too and those can be just as deeply personal and disturbing - but the stuff that goes on in your head when you doze off is fascinating in a whole new way. Mostly because unless you're some kind of Kreskin or enlightened monk you don't have much control over what happens in your dreams. Sure they can be so completely lucid that you're confused when you wake up whether that really just happened, but it's your sub-conscious talking. Sometimes the message is clear and sometimes you're running up the side of a hair-covered house owned by your third grade teacher.
As you can probably tell, we're not sleep experts by any means but we think dreams are fun (and usually funny) and writing about them has got go be therapeutic in some way. And man it's fun to draw pictures too!
I had a dream was made by Steve Palmer. You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one.
